St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church Saco
Maine
This is our first work in the United States and we would say our entry into this country in terms of iconography. In our opinion, it happened miraculously, when the responsible priest, Fr. Vassilios, on his trip to Greece, while looking for a iconographer all over the country, met a friend, who brought him to our iconographic house. And after collecting material from various colleagues, he presented them to the parish committee and after two years, our workshop was selected for this project. The parish was, and still is, our first family in the United States.
We love very much this parish of Mani, which has a very strong bond and is very committed to the country and to Orthodoxy. It is one of the first, if not the first, church of the architect Christos Kamatzis, who in its simplicity represents the basis of Orthodox art.
We hope that as the first work after so many years it is still able to express one of our best works even so old.
The working steps
We follow specific steps for the design, creation, construction and placement of the project
Before
We accurately identify the needs of the interested party.Precision plan
Draft proposals accompanied by a complete feasibility study, time study and costing of the project.Painting
We start the painting and during it we communicate with the client, informing and referring to the course of the work.Placement
Using seasonal and construction methods (acrylic media and rock and metal powders) we paint directly on properly prepared walls, either directly or indirectly by placing canvases already painted in our workshop. In this way we ensure longevity and safety from future technical repair problems.
